Tarantino was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA.

At the age of 17, Tarantino dropped out of school and began taking acting lessons. He had to work on the side. At 22, he found his second home by getting a job at a video rental store in Manhattan Beach, where his film knowledge was finally put to good use. With his work friends Roger Avery and Jerry Martinez, Tarantino turned Video Archives into a makeshift film school.

Tarantino spent several difficult years offering two of his scripts to studios (he intended to direct them himself) and receiving consistent rejections. It was not easy to make a “real movie” based on his own script, being an unknown newcomer. Out of desperation, in 1991, Tarantino wrote the script for Mad Dogs. Initially, Tarantino planned to shoot the film on 16mm film and with minimal funds, and his friends and colleagues in video distribution were to play all the roles. But fortunately, the energetic producer Lawrence Bender read the script, was delighted and begged Tarantino for a month to get the money for a “real movie.” The movie was shot in less than a month, in real interiors and on the streets of Los Angeles. As a result, “Mad Dogs” was a phenomenal success – first at the Sundance Film Festival, and then around the world.

Suddenly, Tarantino became fashionable, and two of his early scripts were accepted for production. True Love (1992) was directed by Tony Scott, and Natural Born Killers (1993) was directed by Oliver Stone.

In 1994, Quentin directed the movie Pulp Fiction. In 1995, he won an Academy Award for his screenplay for this movie. After a three-year hiatus, Tarantino wrote and directed Jackie Brown (1997) with Pam Grier.

At first, Tarantino dreamed of a career as an actor. Perhaps that’s why he regularly acted in both his own and other people’s films (Mad Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Four Rooms, From Dusk Till Dawn, and others).

With his partner Laurence Bender, on the basis of their own company A Band Apart Productions, Tarantino took part in the creation of Roger Avery’s “Kill Bill” as an executive producer.

In 2003, he made the movie “Kill Bill”, and in 2004 the second part of the movie was released – “Kill Bill 2”. In 2005, Tarantino was one of the directors who made the movie “Sin City”.
